DYNAMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE PACKAGING AND LOGISTICS INDUSTRY
For almost twenty years, Poland has been one of the largest packaging markets in Europe. The packaging industry is equipped with modern means of production and uses the latest technologies, which are influenced by allocated EU funds. As a result, the Polish packaging market is developing very dynamically. The total tonnage of manufactured packaging increased from 1.3 million tons in 1998 to 4.1 million tons in 2010, reaching over three hundred percent growth dynamics. The following years were also characterized by development trends, which favored the expansion and modernization of the production potential. As a result, the offer of the packaging industry located in Poland is fully competitive in foreign markets. Currently, the packaging industry in Poland consists of approx. 7 thousand companies, including 4.3 thousand significant on the market. Among this number, approx. 2.3 thousand are producers, approx. 1.2 thousand are companies that provide packaging services or support the packaging industry, and about 800 are distribution companies. In 2010, the consumption of packaging in Poland per capita in terms of value amounted to 157 EUR. Currently, the packaging market in Poland accounts for 1.3% of the global packaging market.
Successful market development forecasts increased demand for modern packaging and logistics solutions in Poland. Both of these industries were reflected in a strong representation at the TAROPAK fair in Poznań.
